ABOUT OUR ONLINE PRELIMINARY TRAINING
YouthAdvance is driven to create #WorldReady young Australians! From this, our programs are not only designed to provide a participant with a new experience and fun memorable time with new or existing friends but ultimately, our goal is to provide a framework that prepares young people for the world ahead. Participants who complete their Bronze, Silver and Gold AJ’s with YouthAdvance should be able to plan prepare and take part safely in their only AJ post completion of their Award, THIS IS OUR STANDARD!
WHY DO I NEED TO DO PRELIMINARY TRAINING
Before we start your training, it is worth emphasising that an Adventurous Journey, by its nature, contains an element of risk. It is important that this risk is properly identified, assessed and managed to reduce the likelihood of an accident or emergency occurring, and decrease the consequences if an accident or emergency occurs. The key to this is the proper preparation and training of the participants so that they can safely undertake their Practice Journey and then the more independent Qualifying Journey. The safety of all those taking part is a priority.
This training is compulsory for each level of the Award, it’s required to enable Participants to safely undertake their chosen or agreed upon journey. More commonly, Participants will need considerable preparation and training to plan and safely execute an independent journey.
Once completed, your YouthAdvance Assessor will review your results and determine that you are able to competently carry out your Practice Journey in a safe and self-reliant manner and the following competencies will require sign-off in your Online Record Book (ORB).
Your Online Preliminary Training will take approximately 6-8 hours of study to complete. In order to be deemed competent, the following 11 elements must be completed prior to your AJ with YouthAdvance.
The course will remain active for 4 weeks, your training MUST be completed in this time frame. If you do not complete within the 4 weeks you will be required to resit the training.
