Do you want to have fun, meet new people and challenge yourself?
Join the Duke of Ed Award today!

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognised program for young people, building their skills to equip them for life and work.

Key Elements

The key elements of our program are:

  • Three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each progressively more challenging.
  • Four Sections: Physical Recreation, Skill, Service, Adventurous Journey plus Residential Project (Gold Level only).
  • Regular participation over a set period of time
  • Support from volunteer assessors, award leaders and mentors

Award Benefits

In completing the Duke of Ed Award, participants:

  • Learn important lifeskills and increases career opportunities
  • Are equipped and empowered to take on life beyond school and university
  • Can have advanced opportunity with university admission and points
  • Become more well-rounded, driven and confident young people

Bronze

For those over 14 years.
6 months minimum participation.

Silver

For those over 15 years.
12 months minimum participation.

Gold

For those over 16 years.
18 months minimum participation.

By creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award can play a critical role in their development.

Each participant chooses the activities that suits their passion and they have the freedom to move through each Award level at their own pace. The Award is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.

You can participate in the Award with YouthAdvance as an individual through our Open Award Centre or with a school group through our School Partnership or Client Award Centre. You can read about each model at the links below to find out which one suits you best.

We are very proud that in just under 5 years, YouthAdvance has assisted over 1000 students to complete their Award.

 

YouthAdvance offers the opportunity for young people to complete the Award in two different ways. 

If your school doesn’t offer the Award, you can join us as part of the Open Award Centre. Or, if your school wants to look at offering the Award (but without any of the administration work), they can become a School Partner, which means you can complete the Award with your school peers.

Open Award Centre

An Open Award Centre means that anyone can complete their Award with YouthAdvance. For those at uni, finished school, or your school doesn’t run it? You can still be involved.
